THE DOOR OPENER

I love Walt Disney films because there is always a good message behind every movie. I had an opportunity to watch “G-Force” with Thomas Ling in Kuching. I really enjoyed this family movie about four guinea pigs that can talk and perform special feats and are trained as spies. The message behind the movie is about being part of a family. I think it is great to always be reminded about the importance of family. We need one another in the family for support, encouragement and development. After the movie, I am really looking forward to my annual family reunion in 2010. Here are some photos at the movie.

THE DOOR OPENER

Do you believe that God can open doors of opportunities for you? In the past 20 years of my Christian life, I have experienced God opening many doors for me. Firstly, God opened the door for my family and me to live in Australia. He opened door for me to enter into university and study a good degree. Then, He made a way for me to enter into healing ministry.

I would like to share from Acts 16:6-10 on how God opened door for Apostle Paul to start his ministry in Europe.

Paul’s Vision of the Man of Macedonia

Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit

Sometimes in life we don’t know the right path to take because we have so many good choices to choose from. What should I study? Where should I work and live? Which ministry should I get involved with? Apostle Paul and his companion had many places to share the gospel and pioneer churches. They did not go according to their natural instincts but they were directed by the Holy Spirit. They were told where to go and where not go because of opposition or persecution. We need to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us through life’s decision just like Apostle Paul and his friends did. God will guide us through His word, our spiritual mentors and circumstances to lead us to walk in the right path in life.

Follow God’s eternal purpose

Nothing happens by chance. God did not wake up one morning and randomly decide to create the universe, the human race and the nations. He has planned everything since the beginning of time. Read Acts 17:26-28. The Bible says:

“From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

God had a vision for Apostle Paul and his companions to go to Macedonia. God wanted the people in Europe to know His eternal purpose and used Apostle Paul to fulfil His vision. God wants us to exchange our small plans and purpose for His. When we are willing to surrender our lives to God’s eternal purpose, we will see God open many doors in our path.

Do you want God to give you more opportunities in this life? I want to inspire you to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and follow God’s eternal purpose. Let us live in God’s amazing adventure now!
