In 2009, Austin was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in Kuching, Malaysia. He lost 20kg due to the fact that the tumour in his oesophagus prevented food reaching his stomach. The doctor had to insert a feeding tube through Austin’s nose because he was unable to swallow food. Austin is a Christian and he went to many churches to receive prayer for healing.

Miracles happen when we enjoy and desire the presence of God through worship.

God wants us to tap into His unlimited power so we can be overcomers and fulfill His purposes on earth. How do we tap into His unlimited power? We need to fall in love with God above all else and enjoy coming into His presence. Our greatest love and desire on earth should be God because God created us to worship Him. We need to remain in the Holy Spirit always so that Christ may manifest through us. We are nothing without the Holy Spirit. We need to rely on the Holy Spirit in the big or small things.

The more we seek the presence of God, the more God can guide us to do supernatural things through the Holy Spirit. I like to spend time worshipping God alone before every ministry whether I am in a big crusade or small meeting. I do not want to stand before people pretending that I have special power or ability. I know my ability to hear from God and do the work of God comes through spending time waiting and listening to Him. I rather pray a few words with the power and anointing of God than utter hundreds of words without any result.
1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you. Selah
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. 8 Hear my prayer, O Lord God Almighty;
listen to me, O God of Jacob. Selah
9 Look upon our shield, O God;
look with favor on your anointed one. 10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
12 O Lord Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you.

• Miracles happen when we want to set people free from bondages, curses and strongholds.

What is the nature of the gospel and the Good News? Jesus did not come to introduce further religious rituals to the people. Jesus came to introduce people to a personal relationship with God and set people free from satanic influence. Jesus’ mission statement is written in Luke 4:16-21. Jesus was anointed to preach the Good News to the poor, proclaim freedom for the prisoners, recovery of sight for the blind, release the oppressed, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

All of the works of Jesus required encountering and overcoming the power of darkness over people. Satan has kept people in bondage through lies and deceptions. God has commissioned every believer to go into battle and set people free. God has given us power and authority over the works of Satan on earth. The abundant life that Jesus promised is not for the select few but for everyone. We need to help people to know the truth of the Word of God and pray for Jesus to deliver them from Satan’s influence.

Scripture references: Luke 4:16-21, Mark 9:17-29, John 8:42-47, John 8:31-32, John 10:10, Acts 16:16-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6,

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.(P) 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Miracles happen when we want to glorify the name of Jesus on earth.

So many people are living in ignorance of God’s plan, love, grace and power. Some may even oppose to Christianity because they see as one of many other religions that lack relevance for today’s modern world. God is not glorified when people are kept in sin, bondage, sickness, hurts, fear, addiction, without any deliverance.

Jesus did everything during His three years of ministry on earth to let people know that He was the Son of God. He was the Messiah that they had been waiting for generations. He had a personal relationship with the His Father in Heaven. He did not bring His own agenda on earth but He was on earth to bring glory to His heavenly Father. What are our motives to reveal God’s power on earth? If we seek to glorify God and not for our self-gain or reputation, we will see a greater release of God’s presence and manifestations.

The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3 They seized Peter and John, and because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.
5 The next day the rulers, elders and teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. 6 Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas, John, Alexander and the other men of the high priest’s family. 7 They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is
“‘the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the capstone. 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” 13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.

2. PRACTICE THE WORDS OF GOD

Miracles happen when we start seeking opportunities to practice the Word of God.

Do not wait until you get lightening and thunder from heaven or a visitation from angels before you start praying for miracles. Do not wait until you are on a big platform with thousands of people in a healing crusade before you start praying for healing. The more we pray for people and putting God’s Words into action, the more we see the move of God. Do not sit at home and wait for opportunity to come to pray for miracles. Rather, we need to ask God to open doors for us to reveal His love and power in everyday situation. I noticed that some of the most outstanding miracles or healings happened when I prayed by myself in a quiet place, praying for a small group of people, praying in the streets, praying for a person at home and hospital.

We should not limit God and set boundaries or dictate the environment for God to perform miracles. God can perform miracles anywhere, in a small gathering or a large stadium full of people. I often get invitations to pray for individuals at home or in hospital. I apply the same faith principles that I have learnt in church to pray for individuals on the street, at home and in hospital. I must see how God sees people; everyone is valuable to Him and I must pray for them individually when time allows.
8 In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth(A) and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. 11 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13 The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. 9 Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. 10 Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!” 11 Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. 12 The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

Do we believe every word in the Bible is the inspired Word of God? Or do we pick and choose only what we like to believe or what other people want us to believe? In order for us to have a radical life transformation, we need to believe in every word of God. We need to have a deep conviction that what is written in the Bible is for every believer and it is applicable for today. It is not a historical book to stimulate our minds and emotions. The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.

The Israelites wanted to eat meat in the desert and Moses prayed to God to provide for the people. God told Moses that His arm is not too short to help His people. God wants to remind us today that His arm is not too short to help us in every situation.

Numbers 11:21-23 21 But Moses said, “Here I am among six hundred thousand men on foot, and you say, ‘I will give them meat to eat for a whole month!’ 22 Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?” "The LORD answered Moses, “Is the LORD’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”

Big problems require a Big God! There were 3 million Israelites wanting to eat meat in the wilderness after growing tired of eating manna from Heaven. Moses complained to God of the huge challenge to supply enough meat to feed all of the people. God reminded Moses that His arm is not too short to do miracles. Sure enough, God caused a strong wind to blow the bird from the seas and fell to the ground.

Number 11:31 -32 31 Now a wind went out from the LORD and drove quail in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits[a] deep all around the camp, as far as a day’s walk in any direction. 32 All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers.[b] Then they spread them out all around the camp.

God is so good. He always has an answer to every situation we face in life. Indeed, His arm is not too short to perform miracles on our behalf. Let us trust in God to do the impossible in every area of our life. We serve a God who has unlimited power and resources.
THE PRAYERS OF MOSES - MOSES' STORY

Moses prayed to God for the three important areas:

To know God and His way

To receive God's favour

To experience God's presence

Let us pray like Moses to receive the same blessings.

Exodus 33:13-14 "If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

If you could ask God for anything in this world, what would you ask? Would you ask God for more money, fame or material things? Moses did not ask God for any of these things. Moses' made three personal prayers request to God:

To know God and His way

To receive God's favour

To experience God's presence

We can see that Moses eagerly desired more of God in his life. Moses humbly acknowledged his dependency upon God. He was unable to lead the Israelites without the divine intervention of God. Moses’ prayer request was God-focused and not self-focused. Moses' prayer was directed towards God and fulfilling God's purpose. Let our prayer request go beyond our personal needs and toward knowing and possessing more of God and His purpose.

Let us put God in the centre of our lives so we can glorify Him on earth.

Mose greatest desire was to be in the presence of God and fellowship with God. Every time Moses spent time with God, the glory of God was upon Him. Moses' face reflected the glory of God to the people of Israelites. Let us desire for God like Moses so we can also reflect the glory of God in our world.

Exodus 34:29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.

When you spend a lot of time with the same people in your life, you will reflect their likeness, habits, attitudes and character. Moses was a man that loved to be in the presence of God. Moses would spend hours or days seeking and dwelling in the presence of God. When Moses finished seeking God and went to see the Israelites, his face would be glowing with the glory of God. People had to put a veil over Moses' head because he was shining too brightly for the eye to see. Moses was full of God and people around him could see and sense it. We read that Moses went back to seek God again after spending time with the people. Moses just cannot get enough of God. He loved the presence of God so much that nothing could draw him away from God.

The more time we spend with God, the more we will be like God in our thoughts, attitudes, behaviour and actions. Connection with God, through daily devotion, prayer, reading scriptures, worship and obeying His words, will transform ourselves and the people around us. We need to practice seeking and dwelling in the presence of God so we can have what Moses had - a deep personal encounter with God's glory.

We are called to be our representative on earth and we can truly represent God if we spend time building strong intimacy and relationship with God like Moses and reflect God to people around us.

Mose and the israelites had no water in the desert to drink but God has an answer to every problem. God asked Moses to strike the rock and water flowed out of the rock. Whatever problems we face today, ask God for an answer.

Exodus 17:6 "I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Moses was a man that walked in obedience to God's words. In every situation and problems, Moses would enquire of God and follow God's instruction. When Moses and the Israelites found bitter water after crossing the Red Sea, God instructed Moses to throw a piece of wood into the water and the water was purified. This time, there was absolutely no water found in the desert. There was only a rock in front of Moses. God asked Moses to strike the rock with his staff and water started to gush out of the rock. God provided a different solution to the same problem and Moses just obeyed God's words.

We need to learn to listen to God and obey God for all of our problems in life. We would be less stressed and more relaxed if we just learn to seek God every time we encounter problems in our lives and follow His instructions. God has an answer to every situation we face in life. Nothing is in the too hard basket for God. No water? God made water flow from a rock to quench thirst of 3 million Israelites. No job? We can pray for God to provide a new job or pray for God to help us start a small business or pray for God to allow us to further our education.

The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day".

It was something never seen before in the history of humankind: God raining down bread from heaven to feed 3 million people walking in the wilderness. It is hard to believe how God could make so much bread from heaven rain down on earth. This is beyond human logic and scientific explanation. The only explanation to this phenomenon is God can do all things. He can choose whatever ways to provide for the Moses and the Israelites. God did not lead the Israelites out of Egypt into the wilderness to die of starvation. God's name was glorified by this supernatural provision from heaven. None of the Israelites could doubt His love and provision by this supernatural act of God.

Likewise, we need to put our trust in God for every provision for our lives. We can trust God to provide in the area of our education, finance, business, ministry, relationship and future. Let us believe God to provide whether we trust Him for small things or big things. God often wants us to trust Him in the little things first before we can trust Him for bigger things. Do not allow the lack of provision stop us from believing God for provision. Moses and 3 million Israelites walked in the desert with no provision of food. God provided bread for them from nothing. God can provide for us through many means and options.

We need to keep praying and trusting in God to provide in His perfect timing.

Peter Truonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05298983154648093146noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238525116503797308.post-62635440186975682002012-04-09T00:53:00.000-07:002012-04-05T05:37:58.830-07:00GOD PROVIDES DRINKING WATER - MOSES' STORY

GOD PROVIDES DRINKING WATER - MOSES' STORY

When Moses and the Israelites were in the desert and there was no water, God used Moses to convert bitter water into drinking water. The amount of water needed would be a same amount as a modern city today. Water is essential to life. Water is needed for drinking, cooking, bathing, washing, cleaning etc. Without water, the whole community of Israelite would perish in the desert. Moses confronted his biggest challenges since crossing the red seas; where to find enough water for 3 millions people in the desert? The water that they have found was undrinkable, it was bitter. God has a way of purifying the water. He asked Moses to throw a piece of wood to purify the water. The water became drinkable after Moses threw the piece of wood into the water. It would not be a contest: the army of Egyptians would wipe out and destroy the Israelites in no time. However, God had an answer for the Israelites in spite of the impending danger of the pursuing Egyptian army. God parted the Red Sea, allowing the Israelites to cross over safely to dry ground, and closed the Red Sea to destroy the pursuing Egyptian army. God always has a plan; a way and a door for His people when there seem to be no way.

There are times when it seems everything is conspiring against us and doors are closing shut on us. We don't need to be in despair because God always provides hope and opportunity for us. We need to fix our eyes on God during the crisis rather than fixing our eyes on the crisis. We can magnify our crisis by dwelling on it all the time. Moses looked to God during the crisis and God provided a way out. We need to look to God for a way through, or out of, our situation. God is ever ready to help us in times of crisis so that we can experience more of His love, wisdom and power. God wants to glorify His name in the midst of our trouble. We don't want to make the wrong decision because we don't want to suffer the consequences. We fear making decisions because of making mistakes or ending up in failure. We are left paralysed, and end up not making any decision and letting opportunity slip through our fingers and begin to live in the land of regret.

The good news is that wherever we want to go, God is already there because God is eternal. God lives in the past, present and future at the same time. God created time. God knew us before we were born into this world. He has a clear direction for our lives and our future. We need to be like a sheep following the voice of the shepherd. In the Old Testament, God did not allow Moses and the three million Israelites to wander in the wilderness without any direction. God guided His people by the pillar of cloud during the day and the pillar of fire at night. God led the Israelites through the wilderness 24 hours a day. God did not leave the Israelites to grope around in the dark at night.

We can be assured today that the God who led the Israelites thousands of years ago is leading us today. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We need ask God to guide us in our decision-making and help us to make the right choices in life. God knows the best for us so we can seek him for His direction every day. God is concerned about every part and matter of our lives. What causes concern to our hearts is a concern to God's heart. It would have been nice if Moses told the Israelites and Pharaoh the message from God, everyone believed, and the Israelites walked straight out of Egypt without raising a sweat. Unfortunately, life does not always run smoothly – it is filled with challenges and unpleasant surprises. The elders of Israelites believed in Moses after he showed them some signs and wonders but Pharaoh repeatedly refused to let the Israelites go free and travel to the Promised Land. Pharaoh wanted the Israelites to be his slave workers for his multiple building projects. Moses constantly faced opposition from Pharaoh. Moses had to perform ten plagues to convinced Pharaoh to eventually to let the Israelites go free. Even at the last moment, Pharaoh changed his mind and ordered his army to pursue the Israelites who were travelling toward the Red Sea.

Moses had an extraordinary determination to confront his obstacles. He always turned to God to help him overcome every obstacle that Pharaoh tried to put in his way. God was faithful to deliver Moses out of every difficult situation so that His purpose would be fulfilled on earth. Indeed, God is with us and He will help us overcome every obstacle like Moses as we seek to fulfil His plan on earth.

God is more than able to help us overcome our daily challenges so that His name may be glory on earth.

Peter Truonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05298983154648093146noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8238525116503797308.post-80241520647454273762012-03-12T17:24:00.000-07:002012-03-06T17:26:29.333-08:00GOD USES WHAT WE HAVE - MOSES' STORY

GOD USES WHAT WE HAVE - MOSES' STORY

Mose had only a staff in his hand and it was enough for God to do miracles through him. God told Moses to use the staff in his hands to perform signs and miracles so the Israelite and Pharaoh would believe. Moses threw the staff to the ground and it became a snake (Exodus 4:3). Moses raised his staff over the waters of Egypt and it turned to blood (Exodus 7:19). Moses raised his staff over the streams and canals and ponds and it was covered with frogs (Exodus 8:5), Moses raise his staff and the Red Sea parted (Exodus 14:15) and so on.

Sometime, we think we have nothing to give to God. However, we can use whatever God had given us for His glory. When we use whatever limited things we have, God can multiply it much more.
Ps 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Christianity is always about developing a strong healthy relationship with God rather than getting things from God. We need to get a proper and right perspective of God. Some of us think that we have to beg and twist God's arm in order to get anything good from Him. On the other hand, others think that we can get anything from God when we ask. I believe God's heart should be our hearts. God wants our hearts to be devoted to Him, responding to His love, sacrifice and commitment toward us. God is a lover who desires His children to love Him in return. We need to love God more than "things" because He knows what we need. God will give us the desires of our hearts because He loves us. Like every parents who love their children and desire to give them good things, God desires to give us good things in this life.

Faith is believing in God for what we do not see at the present. Faith is receiving from God for what we do not have a present. He said, "Faith is when we cannot see it with our natural eyes, but believe in our hearts. If we are able to see what is in front of us, it is not longer faith". God told Abraham that he would become the father of many nations even though both he and Sarah were beyond childbearing age. Abraham believed God’s promises even when it seemed impossible in the natural sphere.

18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”[a] 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. Romans 4:18-21

I remember many years ago, that I received a prophecy about travelling around the world and sharing God's love. At first, questions were spinning around my head, "how it is possible for me to travel around the world?" "How can I afford to fly around the world" and "How to build contact with people and churches around the world?" I was looking at God's vision for my life through my natural eyes rather than through the eyes of faith. Over the years, God slowly made His vision for my life a reality by opening many doors for me to travel within Australia and overseas. I can only look back in awe toward God and His power to make the impossible things into possible in my life. I want to encourage all of us to live by faith in the Words of God.

We can be confident and courageous as people of God because the Holy Spirit is living in us. God chose to dwell in His people rather than in a building. Wherever we go or whatever we do, the Holy Spirit is helping us to overcome our fears by filling us with the power of God.

Over the years, God has helped me overcome some fears in my life. My number one fear was speaking in public. I froze whenever I stood in front of people. I struggled to speak in front of crowds; I was lost for words and I became very nervous. I avoided any form of public speaking for many years. However, when I saw other Christians speaking boldly before people, I said to myself, “I can do what they do because the same Holy Spirit is living in me.” Therefore, I started to pray and practice public speaking as often as I could. I took every opportunity to stand before people and testify the goodness and greatness of God. I began to see the fruits of my public speaking because God was helping me.

Whatever fear we are facing today, allow God to convert our fear into strength because His power is living in us. We can bring blessings to many people by being and doing what God called us.

I really sense in my heart that God wants to give us a greater breakthrough in 2012. God desires to give us breakthroughs in all areas of our lives, such as in our family, marriage, relationship, career, business and ministry. I believe God want us to go beyond where we are currently stationed and what we have accomplished so far. The more breakthroughs we receive from God, the more blessings we can be to our family, our community and the world. I want to share some principles about how we can see breakthrough in our lives.

1. Breakthrough comes with a vision

Do you want to see change take place in your life and the situations around you? The vision for change must be greater than the feeling of stalemate, infertility, and barrenness. If we are happy or content with our current situation, then there is no desire for a change or breakthrough. On the contrary, when we have a strong conviction that change is necessary for ourselves, family and the people around us, then we will desire to do something about it.

A shepherd boy named David was not content to sit by and watch the army of God paralyzed and gripped with fear because of a single giant Goliath, the Philistine. The battle between Israel and Philistine was at a standstill because no one was willing to be Goliath’s challenger. David wanted the God of Israel to be glorified and not be defamed by a single Philistine. Goliath’s size, his curses, weapons, or the Philistine army did not intimidate David. David believed that his God is greater than the gods of the Philistines. He uttered these famous words as he approached Goliath:
“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, how you have defied” 1 Samuel 17:45

God gave David and the Israelite army a great victory over the Philistines on that day when David slung a stone that hit and killed Goliath. What shifted the battle between the Israelite and Philistine? A young shepherd boy who believed God was greater than any opposition from the Philistines. David’s vision of God was greater than the vision of his brother and the army of Israelites. (Read 1 Samuel 17)

When I was a new believer, I was amazed to read all the miracles that took place in the Bible in both the Old Testament and New Testament. I loved to read about the miracles performed by the prophets of God like Moses, Elijah and Elisha. I was amazed by the miracles performed by Jesus, the apostles and the early church. However, I did not have a vision that miracles could happen in my life and in the present time. I lacked the vision to see the supernatural life become a reality in me. Therefore, I was just happy to read about miracles and continue to live my normal, everyday life without the supernatural power of God living in and through me.

Over the years, I read books about people used by God to perform great signs and wonders such as John G Lake, Smith Wiggleworth, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, Charles & Frances Hunters and John Wimber. God began to impart into me a supernatural vision to live a supernatural life. I began to believe the miracles written in the Bible were not just for a historical record but written to inspire us to follow their footsteps and do even greater things. Jesus stated very clearly that after He ascended to heaven to be with the Father, His disciples would do far greater and outstanding miracles than Him.
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:12-13

After the initial stage of believing in miracles, I moved the next stage of envisioning myself doing the miracles of God. Then, I moved to the final stage: overcoming my fear and start doing what Jesus’ command every believer to do – pray for the sick.

A vision from God will cause us to believe, envision and doing whatever needed for change and breakthrough. Let us not settle with where we are but pursue God for a vision for greater breakthrough in our lives.
2. Breakthrough comes with a price

For any breakthrough to become a reality, we need to have passion and determination to make it happen. Breakthrough and changes does not come easily. There must be investment of directed and intentional effort and energy to fulfill the dream. A farmer knows that he must plow the ground, fertilize and water the soil in order for the seed to bear fruit. He cannot sit back and hope that his seed will grow without doing anything. He works hard in the heat of the day to make sure that the seed becomes a young plant and then into a fruit bearing tree. He must remove any obstacles that are hindering the plant from growing such as weeds, pests, and birds. Likewise, we need to pay the price for seeing the result and breakthrough we desire.
The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 2 Timothy 2:6

We live in a society that does not like the word “commitment”. We want things to fall into our lap without much effort. We are afraid of making any commitment because it will cost us something. However, the reality is that our rewards are always greater than the commitment that we have invested. The growing pains we experience in life will produce a greater reward that awaits us in the near future. There is no short cut or easy way in achieving great things in life. We need to make an investment in prayer, resources, time, planning and sacrifice in order to make progress. God will empower us to accomplish His plans in our lives. We are not alone, we have a Partner who will help to us to get achieve great breakthrough. God wants us to rely in Him to produce more fruits in our lives.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

We do not have to struggle alone because there is a greater strength, greater wisdom and greater anointing living within us through the Holy Spirit.

3. Breakthrough comes with momentum

It is so vital to keep pursuing the vision and dreams of a breakthrough. We need to Believe God for the breakthrough, Work toward achieving the breakthrough and Persevere until the breakthrough is accomplished. There will always be hurdles, obstacles, discouragements or disappointments along the way of achieving a great breakthrough. In such times, we need to stay focused and continue to persevere until we cross over the mountain or survive the storm. I always remind myself that my greatest breakthrough is just around the corner when I face some trials or setbacks. I discovered this principle to be always true. God does not give us vision and dream so we can fail miserably. Rather, God gives us the perseverance to overcome the trials so we can move to the next level of victory and blessings.

We need to be consistently doing what God has called us to do. If we are being faithful everyday, we will see a tremendous breakthrough in our lives. God promised that what He began in our lives, He will complete it. We need to hang in there when the times are tough and pressing forward is hard going.
In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil 1:4-6

When I was a child, I loved reading the story of the “Rabbit and the Turtle”. The rabbit raced off to a brilliant start, he sprinted at rapid speed while the turtle slowly toddled along. The rabbit ended up getting distracted and sleeping while the turtle walked at his own pace. Over a period of time, the turtle ends up passing the rabbit and crossing the finish line first. This is a childhood story but it has some powerful principles. It is not how well we start that matter, but how well we finish the race.

At end of Apostle Paul’s life, he wrote these powerful words about his service unto the Lord;
“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing”. 2 Timothy 4:6-8

He completed everything that the Lord had given for him to achieve in this life and he was ready to receive his reward in the heaven. Let us follow Apostle Paul’s example of ending well in life. Let us run the race to the finish line and receive the reward that awaits us at the end. Keep going and do not give up until it is completed.

Together, I look forward to experiencing many exciting breakthroughs in the Lord in 2012. We have a good God who desires to give us many breakthroughs. I love to hear your breakthrough stories in 2012.

May the God of breakthrough bless you and your family richly in 2012.
